How to Brand Your Product

Branding your product is so important in building a reputation and catching the eye of new customers.

Branding is simply taking a theme and carrying it across your entire business so that everything about what you do reflects your brand, and every time someone sees your brand, he thinks of your business.

How to Brand:

1. Think of an image, phrase, emotion, etc that you want your product to be associated with. My business name is Right As Rain Creations, and I wanted people to think "fresh and natural" about my products. So I chose my business name accordingly. I also chose an image of raindrops on a leaf to represent my business in order to reinforce the "fresh and natural" feeling.

2. Work that image into your product. If you have labels, use the image. If you have tags, use your phrase under your business name.

3. Work that image into all business-related correspondence. Create a logo with your image and/or phrase. This is SO important that it is worth paying an expert to do for you if you do not have the skills. Put your image/logo on business cards, invoices, packing slips, mailing labels, etc.

4. Work that image into all business related websites. If you blog, use your image as the header on your blog. If you sell your product through sites that allow personal pages and avatars, use your image whenever possible.

The more places people can see your brand, the more cemented your business will become in their minds! Get busy branding!

When I first started my website in November of 2001 I had to select a template.

I chose a dark green background with a lack checkered design going down the left side.

The original template was for a video game page complete with screen shots.

I have repeated that background on over 3000 web pages and rarely do I see anyone else using it.

Thanks for the tips.
